ClimateStrike

It's going down at ClimateStrike.org . . . "A strike is an economic stoppage. A strike does not plead. It does not demand. It simply does. A global climate strike stops the economic and political systems responsible for the climate crisis."

Move to Amend brings you voices from the movement to amend the Constitution through our internet radio program. Every Thursday at 5pm Pacific/8pm Eastern.

This week features the lead organizer for the Global Climate Convergence, Timeka Drew, to talk with us about the upcoming People's Climate Strike.

Timeka Drew is the lead organizer for the Global Climate Convergence (GCC), an education and direct action campaign on behalf of People, Planet and Peace over Profit. Last year, she worked as a grassroots campaign coordinator on the GCC’s Mother Earth Day to May Day launch campaign, where organizers executed 10 days of action connecting fronts of struggle in the areas of climate democracy, human rights and community sovereignty. During the People’s Climate March in NYC, Timeka hosted an artful activism committee and served on the steering committee for the NYC Climate Convergence (NYCCC). The NYCCC conference was organized in partnership with System Change Not Climate Change and the GCC, and was attended by over 2,500 committed activists and organizers. Previously, she worked as the media representative on Cheri Honkala’s Green Party Campaign for Philadelphia Sheriff, calling for a moratorium on foreclosures. Timeka spearheaded the artist’s arm of the Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign called, “Art Feeds Us” connecting artists working on social justice issues and encouraging them to help create and support the movement through their work. In LA, she organized the “Art Feeds Us Festival” - a free, all ages community event promoting art and activism.
